Snoop Dogg has been married to Shante Broadus since 1997, and they have three children, Corde, Cordell, and Cori. His birth name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr.

His public family life was featured in the reality television series Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood, which aired from 2007 to 2009.

After high school, Snoop Dogg spent several years in and out of prison before pursuing music seriously. Through Warren G, he met Dr. Dre, who featured him on the single “Deep Cover” and the album The Chronic in 1992. Snoop signed with Death Row Records, the label co-founded by Dr. Dre, after coming to the producer’s attention.

His prominent vocals on “Dre Day” and “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” helped propel him to stardom. Dr. Dre produced Snoop’s debut album, Doggystyle, which Death Row released in 1993. It became the first debut record to enter the Billboard 200 at number one, while “Gin and Juice” and “What’s My Name?” became major singles.

Snoop’s laid-back delivery, drawled lyrics, West Coast slang, and exaggerated verbal style helped establish his public persona. His second album, Tha Doggfather, also debuted at number one in 1996. After leaving Death Row, he recorded for No Limit Records and released Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told, No Limit Top Dogg, and Tha Last Meal.

Snoop Dogg’s first single to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 was “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” featuring Pharrell, in 2004. He later worked with Katy Perry on “California Gurls” and with Pharrell Williams on the funk and R&B album Bush.

In 2012, Snoop adopted the name Snoop Lion while developing the reggae album Reincarnated. He released the album in 2013, earning a Grammy nomination for best reggae album. That year he also used the name Snoopzilla for 7 Days of Funk, a collaboration with Dâm Funk. He later returned to rap with Neva Left, released the gospel album Snoop Dogg Presents Bible of Love, and issued I Wanna Thank Me in 2019.

In 2022, Snoop acquired Death Row Records, the label that had launched his career. Its first release under his leadership was his album BODR, an abbreviation of “Bacc on Death Row.”

Snoop Dogg has built an acting and television career alongside his music. His film credits include Training Day, Soul Plane, Starsky & Hutch, Scary Movie V, Turbo, The Addams Family, The Addams Family 2, and The Garfield Movie. He has also lent his voice to The Boondocks and The Simpsons.

He starred in Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood and appeared with Martha Stewart on Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, for which the pair received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2017. Snoop and Stewart also developed a wine line with 19 Crimes. In 2016, he was inducted into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, and he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2018.

Snoop appeared with Kevin Hart on Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg during the Tokyo Olympics. He carried the Olympic torch before the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Games, served as a special correspondent for NBC’s coverage, and was appointed Team USA’s first honorary coach for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
