Roddy Ricch

Roddy Ricch has two sons. His first son was born in April 2020 to Allie Minati, with whom he was previously in a relationship. Another son, named Navy, is associated with his relationship with Timaera Bradford.

Ricch grew up in a Christian household. His grandmother was from Louisiana, and he has credited time spent in the South with informing his music.

Born Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., Ricch was raised in Compton, California. He attended Carson High School and briefly attended Compton High School, where he played basketball. He began rapping at eight and started making beats seriously at 16.

At 12, Ricch performed a freestyle for fellow Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar. He grew up listening to Lil Wayne, Young Thug, Future, and Meek Mill, while also identifying Kendrick Lamar and Speaker Knockerz as important musical influences.

Ricch released his first full-length project, Feed Tha Streets, in 2017. He followed it with Be 4 Tha Fame and the mixtape Feed Tha Streets II in 2018. The projects brought him praise from Meek Mill, Nipsey Hussle, 03 Greedo, and producer Mustard.

His 2018 single "Die Young" became his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped establish him nationally. Nipsey Hussle brought him out as a special guest at a PowerHouse concert in Los Angeles, while Meek Mill later featured him on Championships and gave him a Dreamchasers chain after a Philadelphia performance.

Ricch signed with Atlantic Records and released his debut studio album, Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial, in December 2019. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spent four non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart. It included guest appearances from Lil Durk, Meek Mill, Mustard, Ty Dolla Sign, Gunna, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie.

The album's single "The Box" became Ricch's signature hit. It topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 11 consecutive weeks and received diamond certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. His feature on DaBaby's "Rockstar" became his second number-one Billboard Hot 100 song, spending seven weeks at the top in 2020.

Ricch released his second studio album, Live Life Fast, in 2021. Its lead single, "Late at Night," reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, and the album reached number four on the Billboard 200. He followed it with the EP The Big 3 and the mixtape Feed Tha Streets III in 2022, the latter debuting at number 14 on the Billboard 200.

His later collaborations included Post Malone's "Cooped Up," Blxst's "Passionate," Gucci Mane's "Pissy," Trippie Redd's "Closed Doors," Gunna's "Let It Breathe," Mustard's "One Bad Decision," and Kendrick Lamar's "Dodger Blue." Ricch released "Survivor's Remorse," "911," and "Lonely Road" as he continued developing The Navy Album.

Ricch's music combines West Coast hip-hop with trap and Chicago drill influences. His raspy voice and blend of rapping and singing are central to his sound, while his lyrics draw on personal experiences and the realities of life in his community.

He won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance for "Racks in the Middle," a collaboration with Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy. He also won Album of the Year and Best New Artist at the 2020 BET Awards, Album and Song of the Year at the 2020 Apple Music Awards, and Songwriter of the Year at the 2021 BMI R&B and Hip-Hop Awards.
