Pauly D
Pauly D is an American DJ and actor known for his role as a cast member on MTV's Jersey Shore. He also became the first Jersey Shore cast member to receive a spin-off, The Pauly D Project, while building a career through live DJ performances and recorded music.
Personal life
Pauly D is the father of Amabella Sophia Markert, who was born in May 2013. Her mother is Amanda Markert, whom he has described as an ex-girlfriend.
He was raised in Providence, Rhode Island, by Donna DiCarlo and Paul D. DelVecchio Sr. He has one sister, Vanessa. He also dated singer Aubrey O'Day, whom he met while filming Famously Single.
Jersey Shore and The Pauly D Project
Pauly D joined the cast of MTV's Jersey Shore in 2009. His casting began after the show's team contacted him through Myspace and filmed a day of his life in Rhode Island, including visits to a gym, a tanning salon, and a club. He later received the 2011 Teen Choice Award for Choice Reality Star: Male.
He became the first Jersey Shore housemate to receive an individual spin-off. The Pauly D Project premiered on MTV on March 29, 2012, and followed his DJ career and tour across the United States. He later returned with the original cast for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
Music and disc jockey career
Pauly D began developing his skills as a DJ at age 16 and worked locally before his television career. He released the single "Beat Dat Beat (It's Time To)" in 2010 and was nominated for the America's Best DJ competition in 2010 and 2011.
In 2011, he signed a three-album deal with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records and G-Note Records. His single "Back to Love," featuring Jay Sean, was released in 2013 and reached number four on the iTunes Dance Chart in less than 24 hours. He also released "Did You Know" with Tdot illdude in 2016 and "Silver & Gold" with James Kaye in 2019.
His live career has included selected dates on Britney Spears's Femme Fatale Tour alongside Nicki Minaj and the 2013 In a World Like This tour with the Backstreet Boys and Jesse McCartney. He has held DJ residencies in Las Vegas and Atlantic City and has performed at events including Miss USA, the Teen Choice Awards, the iHeartRadio Music Festival, Bamboozle, and Jingle Ball LA.
Other reality television appearances
Pauly D joined the E! reality series Famously Single in 2016. He later appeared with Aubrey O'Day on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars 11, after the pair met while filming Famously Single.
His later television credits include MTV's Game of Clones, Double Shot at Love with Vinny Guadagnino, and Revenge Prank, also with Guadagnino. In 2022, he served as the official narrator for Paramount+'s reality competition series All Star Shore.
