Nick Chubb

Nick Chubb was named for his great-grandfather and is descended from one of eight brothers who founded Chubbtown, Georgia, a settlement of free Black people in Floyd County that endured through the American Civil War. His father, Henry, played football at Valdosta State, while his uncle Aaron was a linebacker for Georgia.

His older brothers Henry and Zach played college football at Troy University and the Air Force Academy, respectively. Chubb also has a sibling named Neidra, and his cousins include Buffalo Bills player Bradley Chubb and former NFL player Brandon Chubb.

Chubb attended Cedartown High School, where he starred in football and track. He led Georgia in high-school rushing as both a junior and senior, finishing his football career with 6,983 rushing yards and 102 touchdowns. In track, he won a state championship in the shot put and set a school record in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69 seconds.

A four-star recruit, Chubb committed to the University of Georgia in 2013. He began his freshman season behind Todd Gurley, but took over as the Bulldogs' starter after Gurley was suspended. Chubb rushed for 143 yards in his first start against Missouri and followed it with 202 yards and two touchdowns against Arkansas. In the 2014 Belk Bowl against Louisville, he set a bowl-game record with 266 rushing yards and was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

Chubb missed the rest of the 2015 season after suffering a serious knee injury against Tennessee. He returned in 2016 and later chose to remain at Georgia for his senior season instead of entering the 2017 NFL draft. In 2017, he shared the backfield with Sony Michel while rushing for 1,345 yards and 15 touchdowns. The pair helped Georgia win the SEC title and reach the College Football Playoff national championship game. Chubb rushed for 145 yards and scored twice in Georgia's double-overtime Rose Bowl victory over Oklahoma.

The Cleveland Browns selected Chubb in the second round of the 2018 NFL draft with the 35th overall pick. After Carlos Hyde was traded in October, Chubb became Cleveland's full-time starter. As a rookie, he scored two long touchdowns against the Oakland Raiders and later broke a 92-yard touchdown run against the Atlanta Falcons, the longest rushing touchdown in Browns franchise history.

Chubb's 2019 season included 1,494 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns, and his first Pro Bowl selection. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 165 yards and three touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens. In 2020, he missed time with an MCL injury but returned to produce 1,067 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. During Cleveland's wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, he rushed for 145 yards and caught a 40-yard touchdown pass.

Chubb reached the Pro Bowl in each season from 2019 through 2022. He finished the 2021 season with 1,259 rushing yards and ranked second in the NFL in rushing. In 2022, he recorded career highs of 1,525 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns, earning second-team All-Pro honors and another Pro Bowl selection. He ended his Cleveland tenure third in franchise history with 6,843 rushing yards, behind Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.

A knee injury against the Steelers ended Chubb's 2023 season and involved a torn medial collateral ligament and damaged anterior cruciate ligament. He returned in 2024 after missing 398 days, scoring a touchdown against the Bengals and two touchdowns against the Steelers, but a broken foot ended his season. Chubb joined the Houston Texans for the 2025 season, recording 506 rushing yards and three touchdowns before announcing his retirement from the NFL in 2026.

In 2021, Chubb released a breakfast cereal called Chubb Crunch. Proceeds from the cereal benefited his First Candle charity, which raises awareness of sudden infant death syndrome.
