Luh Tyler

Luh Tyler began rapping in 2022 after friends introduced him to BandLab, an app they were using to make music. He initially treated recording as an experiment and kept his early music private, but friends encouraged him to upload freestyles and songs to TikTok, Spotify, and YouTube. His early recordings were made with a phone and wired earbuds.

His song “Law & Order” became a breakthrough after going viral on TikTok in late 2022. He followed it with “Law & Order Part 2”, while the song’s video presented vivid scenes of Tallahassee and helped establish his relaxed but highly visual style. “Back Flippin”, another early release, also spread rapidly on TikTok after Tyler recorded it quickly before making another video.

Luh Tyler released his debut mixtape, My Vision, on March 31, 2023, through Motion Music and Atlantic Records. The project featured Trapland Pat and NoCap, and its reloaded edition added a guest appearance from Lil Uzi Vert. The original and reloaded versions reached number two on the US Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart.

His music combines a wavy, laid-back flow with airy high-register vocals, relaxed melodies, and punchlines delivered with an unhurried cadence. He has cited Tallahassee artists Wizz Havin, Trapland Pat, and L.O.E. Shimmy as local inspirations. His work has been associated with Florida rap, while “Florida Water”, a song by Ski Mask the Slump God featuring Tyler, brought him further attention in 2023.

Tyler’s other songs include “Been Working”, “Mr. Skii”, “Open the Door”, “Stick 2 The Code”, “Ocean”, “Stayed Down”, and “7 AM In Munich”. His 2024 album Mr. Skii included “2 Slippery”, featuring BossMan Dlow, which reached number six on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.

After the success of “Law & Order” and My Vision, Luh Tyler began performing at major hip-hop events and touring venues. He performed at Rolling Loud and described festivals as appealing because they allowed him to perform while also watching other artists. During one appearance, he brought his grandmother onstage after she had encouraged his music.

He recalled audiences in Germany as especially energetic, with crowds moshing to nearly every song, including tracks without traditionally hard beats. He later toured with Moneybagg Yo and announced that he would open for A Boogie wit da Hoodie on the Better Off Alone Tour during its spring and summer dates.

Luh Tyler grew up in Tallahassee as the youngest of three children and initially excelled as a high-school basketball point guard before turning seriously toward music. He left Godby High School in the 11th grade to pursue his career and later enrolled in a GED program through the Adult & Community Education School.

His mother became involved in the label-selection process after Tyler’s music began attracting industry attention. When representatives from multiple labels met with Tyler and his family, she encouraged him to choose Motion Music and Atlantic Records. Tyler has described providing for his mother and family as a central motivation for continuing his musical career.
