Lil 50 began releasing music in early 2022, with one of his first releases being "START IT OFF FREESTYLE." He also posted music to YouTube and SoundCloud, where his early recordings attracted attention from listeners in Cleveland and beyond. His songs "Freddie N Jason" and "Out the Sunroof" became central to his rise in the drill rap scene.

His music initially emphasized hard-hitting drill rap and street-focused writing before developing toward more melodic "pain music." The change brought greater emphasis to emotional depth and vulnerability. His online presence on Instagram, X, TikTok, and YouTube has helped him promote releases, share lifestyle content, and interact with fans.

Lil Tjay became an early professional association in Lil 50's rise after taking notice of him and helping introduce him to the music industry. Lil 50 is also associated with the 100k/Trenchkid record label.

Lil 50 was arrested on undisclosed charges in 2023. He said that he spent about three weeks in juvenile jail before being placed on house arrest for several months.
