Kaitlyn Dever is an American actress known for playing Loretta McCready in Justified, Eve Baxter in Last Man Standing, and Marie Adler in Unbelievable. She has also earned recognition for films including Booksmart, Rosaline, and No One Will Save You, as well as television performances in Dopesick, Apple Cider Vinegar, and The Last of Us.

Early acting roles and Justified

Dever developed an interest in performing arts at age five, after which her parents enrolled her in an acting school. She later attended the Dallas Young Actors Studio and began appearing in commercials and small television roles. Her first notable film role was Gwen Thompson in An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong in 2009, followed by appearances in Modern Family, Private Practice, Party Down, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Her early breakthrough came in 2011, when she began playing Loretta McCready in the FX drama Justified. She appeared in 17 episodes across the series, earning critical attention for the role. That same year, she joined Last Man Standing as Eve Baxter, the daughter of Tim Allen's character, and remained part of the series through its later recurring seasons.

Unbelievable, Dopesick, and television recognition

In 2019, Dever starred as Marie Adler in the Netflix miniseries Unbelievable. Her performance received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Miniseries or Television Film, along with nominations from the Critics' Choice Television Awards, the British Academy, and the Television Critics Association.

Dever played Betsy Mallum in the Hulu miniseries Dopesick in 2021. The role brought her Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominations, and she won a Gracie Award for Actress in a Leading Role in a Limited Series or Television Movie. She later played Belle Gibson in the Australian miniseries Apple Cider Vinegar, for which she also served as an executive producer.

Dever joined the cast of The Last of Us as Abby for its second season. Her television work also includes The Premise, Monsterland, Coastal Elites, and the audio drama When You Finish Saving the World, in which she voiced Rachel Katz.

Booksmart and leading film roles

Dever's film work includes supporting performances in Short Term 12, The Spectacular Now, Laggies, Detroit, Beautiful Boy, and Dear Evan Hansen. In Short Term 12, she played Jayden Cole alongside Brie Larson, LaKeith Stanfield, John Gallagher Jr., and Rami Malek.

Her leading performance as Amy Antsler in Olivia Wilde's coming-of-age comedy Booksmart became one of her best-known film roles. She followed it with the title role in Rosaline, for which she was also an executive producer, and the lead role of Brynn Adams in No One Will Save You. The science-fiction thriller contains almost no dialogue, placing much of the storytelling responsibility on Dever's facial expressions and physical performance.

She also appeared in Ticket to Paradise, The Front Runner, Them That Follow, Next Goal Wins, and Good Grief. Her announced and post-production projects include A House of Dynamite, See You When I See You, and Godzilla x Kong: Supernova.

Music with Mady Dever

Dever performs music with her sister Mady Dever. The pair performed covers together as children under the name Hot Pink, later using the name Anime Pearl for small club performances in Los Angeles.

They changed the group's name to Beulahbelle in 2016 and contributed two versions of “You Only Live Twice” and the original song “Let You Go” to Jason Reitman's film Tully in 2018. Beulahbelle released the single “Raleigh” in 2020, with both sisters directing, producing, and appearing in its music video, followed by “Being You” later that year.

In 2024, the duo announced a new name, Devers. Their first single under that name, “Poison,” was released the same year.

Video game and production work

Dever voiced and performed motion capture for Cassie Drake in the video game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. She later voiced Tess Devine in the video game Open Roads.

In addition to acting, she has received executive producer credits on Rosaline, No One Will Save You, and Apple Cider Vinegar. She also directed and produced the music video for Beulahbelle's “Raleigh.”
