Jenna Elfman

Jenna Elfman met actor Bodhi Pine Elfman during an audition for a Sprite commercial in February 1991. They have been married since February 18, 1995, and have two sons, Story Elias Elfman and Easton Quinn Monroe Elfman.

Elfman was raised Roman Catholic. Her husband introduced her to the Church of Scientology, which she joined as a practicing member. She also studied acting with Milton Katselas and opened a Scientology mission in San Francisco in 2001.

Elfman began her entertainment career as a professional dancer. She appeared in music videos for Depeche Mode, Anthrax, and Chris Isaak, danced on the 1991 Academy Awards broadcast in choreography by Debbie Allen, and toured with ZZ Top as a Legs Girl during the band's 1994 tour.

She trained in classical ballet from childhood but gave it up at 16 after serious ankle injuries. After appearing in commercials, she took guest roles on Roseanne, NYPD Blue, Almost Perfect, and Murder One. Her first regular television role was Shannon Canotis on the ABC sitcom Townies, which ran for one season, and she made her film debut in Grosse Pointe Blank in 1997.

Elfman's breakthrough came in 1997 when she was cast as Dharma Freedom Finkelstein Montgomery on Dharma & Greg. The ABC sitcom ran for five seasons through 2002 and established her as a leading television comedy performer.

She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy, for the show's second season in 1999. She also received three consecutive Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series and two TV Guide Awards for her performance.

During and after Dharma & Greg, Elfman appeared in films such as Krippendorf's Tribe, Dr. Dolittle, EDtv, Keeping the Faith, Town & Country, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, Clifford's Really Big Movie, Big Stone Gap, and Barry. She starred opposite Ben Stiller and Edward Norton in Keeping the Faith, and received a Satellite Award nomination for the role. In Touched, released in 2005, she was both a performer and an executive producer.

Her later television leads included Courting Alex, Accidentally on Purpose, 1600 Penn, Growing Up Fisher, and Imaginary Mary. She had a recurring role as Naomi Walling in Damages and played June "Naomi / Laura" Dorie on Fear the Walking Dead from 2018 through the show's eighth and final season in 2023. She also appeared in The Twilight Zone, Will Trent, and Dark Winds, and returned to multi-camera comedy with a recurring role in Shifting Gears.

Elfman has served on the advisory board of the American Dance Movement, formerly known as the Dizzy Feet Foundation. The organization supports and expands access to dance education in the United States, connecting with her background as a classically trained dancer.

Her charitable activities have included hosting fundraising events, participating in telethons and awareness campaigns, reading to schoolchildren through the National Education Association's Read Across America program, and filming a 2011 public service announcement for the Humane Society of the United States.
