Henry Cejudo

Henry Cejudo has been married to Ana Karolina since September 17, 2021.

Cejudo and Ana Karolina have two children. He was born to Mexican immigrants and grew up with several siblings.

Cejudo began wrestling under the influence of his older brother Angel Cejudo, an undefeated four-time Arizona state champion who also competed internationally. Henry became a four-time state champion himself and moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to train as a resident athlete at the United States Olympic Training Center. He chose international freestyle wrestling instead of competing in collegiate wrestling.

In 2006, Cejudo became the first high school wrestler to qualify for the U.S. World Team Trials since USA Wrestling became the sport's governing body in 1983. He won U.S. national titles, Pan American championships and the 2007 Pan American Games before qualifying for the 2008 U.S. Olympic team.

At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Cejudo defeated Tomohiro Matsunaga in the 55-kilogram final to win the gold medal. At 21, he became the youngest American Olympic wrestling champion at the time, a record that stood until Kyle Snyder won gold in 2016 at age 20. Cejudo was inducted as a Distinguished Member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2018.

Cejudo began his professional MMA career in 2013 and joined the UFC in 2014. He won his first UFC fights against Dustin Kimura, Chris Cariaso, Chico Camus and Jussier Formiga before defeating Wilson Reis and Sergio Pettis in 2017.

At UFC 227 in August 2018, Cejudo defeated Demetrious Johnson by split decision to win the UFC Flyweight Championship. The bout earned Fight of the Night honors and made Cejudo the first Olympic gold medalist to win a UFC division championship. He defended the title by stopping T.J. Dillashaw in 32 seconds in January 2019.

Cejudo moved to bantamweight and defeated Marlon Moraes by third-round TKO at UFC 238 in June 2019, winning the vacant UFC Bantamweight Championship. This made him the fourth fighter to hold UFC titles in two divisions simultaneously. He defended the bantamweight title against Dominick Cruz by second-round technical knockout at UFC 249 in May 2020, then announced his retirement from professional fighting.

After nearly three years away, Cejudo returned at UFC 288 in May 2023 and lost a close split decision to Aljamain Sterling in a bantamweight title fight. He later lost unanimous decisions to Merab Dvalishvili and Payton Talbott, while a technical decision against Song Yadong followed an accidental eye poke that prevented him from continuing.
