Ethan Cutkosky

Cutkosky is the only child of Yvonne Cabrera Cutkosky, a teacher, and David Cutkosky, a computer software engineer. His mother is of Mexican descent.

He dated actress Brielle Barbusca. Outside acting, he has practiced Taekwondo, skateboarded, and developed an interest in photography.

Cutkosky began appearing in photo advertisements at the age of four, an activity he shared with his mother. He later auditioned for commercials and film roles, appearing in a Walgreens television commercial before moving into feature films.

His first film role was Carl in Fred Claus (2007), in an uncredited appearance opposite Vince Vaughn. In The Unborn (2009), he played Barto, a mythical spirit, opposite Gary Oldman. He also appeared as Neighborhood Boy in the 2010 film Conviction.

In 2009, Cutkosky was selected to play Carl Gallagher in the Showtime comedy-drama series Shameless. Carl is one of Frank Gallagher's children and is portrayed as a rebellious troublemaker growing up in a chaotic family. The series starred William H. Macy and ran for 11 seasons from 2011 to 2021.

The role became Cutkosky's defining television performance. He played Carl in 134 episodes and also appeared as the character in Shameless Hall of Shame and the music video “Vic Mensa Feat. Pusha T: OMG.”

After Shameless, Cutkosky played Josh in Alex/October (2022) and Caleb Goldufski in an episode of The Conners. He also played Wayne Gilmore in Happy Gilmore 2 and Otis in Going Places, for which he was credited as a co-producer.

Cutkosky created the clothing brand Khaotic Collective in 2018. He has also produced music, including the songs “Alone,” “Comprehend,” “Wondering,” “Erase Me,” “Falling Deep,” “Anyway,” and “0ut 0f !t.”
