Eddie Hall

Hall has been married to Alexandra Hall since 9 June 2012. Alexandra owns a barbershop in Trent Vale. They have three children together, including their son Maximus, born in 2013, and two daughters born in June 2023 and October 2024. Hall also has a daughter named Layla from a previous relationship.

In December 2019, Hall announced that he has what he calls the Hercules gene, associated with myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy and an ability to build more muscle mass than average.

As a teenager, Hall competed as a swimmer in his age group. At the 2001 UK Nationals, he won four gold medals and one silver while setting two British records. He attended Clayton Hall Academy before being expelled at 15 and continuing his education through homeschooling.

At 16, Hall began an apprenticeship as a technician at Lex Commercials, a DAF Trucks site in Stoke-on-Trent. After completing the apprenticeship in 2008, he worked as a mechanic and technician at Robert Wiseman Dairies in Market Drayton until 2016. He entered his first hometown strongman competition in 2007 and finished fifth, followed by a third-place finish in a regional competition in 2009.

Hall won England's Strongest Man in 2010 after replacing the injured Dave Meer in the competition. He won UK's Strongest Man six consecutive times from 2011 through 2016. During the 2011 contest, he set a national Viking Hold record by holding 20 kg axes in each hand for one minute and 18 seconds.

Hall set a deadlift world record with a 462 kg lift in 2015, then raised the mark to 465 kg on the Rogue Elephant Bar at the 2016 Arnold Strongman Classic. In July 2016, he lifted 500 kg at the World Deadlift Championships. The effort caused bleeding from his ears and nostrils, temporary blindness and a fainting spell.

In 2017, Hall won Britain's Strongest Man and finished second behind Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson at Europe's Strongest Man. He then won the World's Strongest Man title by one point over Björnsson. Hall won the Britain's Strongest Man title again in 2018 and shared first place with Björnsson and Cheick Sanou at the 2018 World Log Lift Championships, lifting 213 kg.

Hall began preparing for boxing in 2020 after Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson challenged him following Björnsson's deadlift record. The two met in Dubai on 19 March 2022 in a six-round exhibition bout billed as the heaviest match in boxing history. Hall knocked Björnsson down in the second round but was knocked down twice himself and lost by unanimous decision.

Hall made his mixed martial arts debut in 2024 in a two-on-one bout against the Neffati brothers, Jamil and Jamel, defeating both opponents. In April 2025, he made his professional MMA debut for KSW against former strongman Mariusz Pudzianowski and won by technical knockout 30 seconds into the first round.

He has also competed in arm wrestling. Hall lost to Brian Shaw at King of the Table 13 in 2024 and defeated Robert Oberst at East vs West in 2025.

After retiring from strongman competition in 2018 because of serious health issues, Hall provided commentary for later strongman competitions. He appeared on Channel 5's Celebs In Solitary and presented the SPORTbible web series Beasted! in 2019, helping eight men follow exercise and diet plans.

Hall was one of four strongmen featured in the History Channel series The Strongest Man in History, alongside Brian Shaw, Nick Best and Robert Oberst. His film credits include the documentary Eddie: Strongman, an uncredited appearance as a Saxon warrior in Transformers: The Last Knight, and the role of Bartender 2 in The Expendables 4.
