Cheryl Hines

Hines was married to Paul Young, founder of the management firm Principato-Young, from 2002 to 2010. They have a daughter, Catherine Rose Young, who was born in 2004.

Hines has been married to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. since August 2, 2014. The couple married at the Kennedy Compound on Cape Cod after being introduced by Hines's Curb Your Enthusiasm co-star Larry David.

Hines grew up in Tallahassee, Florida, where she participated in the Young Actors Theatre. She attended Lively Technical Center, Tallahassee State College, Florida State University and the University of Central Florida, where she earned a degree related to communication, radio and television production.

After moving to Los Angeles, Hines studied improvisational comedy and sketch writing at the Groundlings Theater. Lisa Kudrow was her first teacher there, and the training helped prepare Hines for the improvised dialogue of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Before establishing herself as an actress, Hines worked as a personal assistant to actor-director Rob Reiner.

Hines made her professional acting debut in a 1993 episode of Swamp Thing and later appeared in programs including Unsolved Mysteries, Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond. Her major breakthrough came with Curb Your Enthusiasm, in which she played Cheryl David, the fictional wife of Larry David.

Hines appeared in the series from 2000 through 2024. Her performance earned Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2003 and 2006.

Hines played Dallas Royce on the ABC sitcom Suburgatory, appearing in 56 episodes from 2011 to 2014. Her other television work includes In the Motherhood, Brothers & Sisters, Son of Zorn, The Flight Attendant and the singing game show I Can See Your Voice, where she served as a regular panelist.

Her film credits include Along Came Polly, Waitress, RV, The Grand, The Ugly Truth, Nine Lives, Wilson and A Bad Moms Christmas. She has also performed voice roles in projects such as Space Chimps, Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans and 3Below: Tales of Arcadia.

Hines made her feature film directorial debut with the 2009 romantic comedy Serious Moonlight. The film starred Meg Ryan and Timothy Hutton and was written by Adrienne Shelly, who directed and appeared with Hines in Waitress.

Hines has also directed episodes of Campus Ladies, Hollywood Help and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Her producing credits include Campus Ladies, Hollywood Residential and Hollywood Help.

Hines has served on the board of trustees of United Cerebral Palsy. She became involved with the organization after a nephew was born with cerebral palsy, and she has participated in advocacy and fundraising efforts for the group.

She co-hosted the podcast Tig and Cheryl: True Story with comedian Tig Notaro from 2020 to 2024. Hines also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.
