Brandon Moreno

Moreno has a wife and three daughters. Outside fighting, he collects Lego, Funko Pop figures, Pokémon and other trading cards, and has discussed his family, including his niece, as well as a dog and a cat.

He hosts Entre Asaltos, a Spanish-language MMA podcast, and has also streamed himself playing video games.

Moreno grew up in Tijuana and became interested in combat sports after first developing a passion for boxing. He initially wanted to train in capoeira but could not find a school in his home city, so he joined an MMA gym and began studying kickboxing and jiu-jitsu. He started training for fighting at 12 years old.

He made his professional MMA debut in Mexico in April 2011. Before entering the UFC, he won the World Fighting Federation Flyweight Championship and later captured the vacant Legacy Fighting Alliance Flyweight Championship by stopping Maikel Pérez at LFA 69 in June 2019.

Moreno also holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Raúl Arvizu. Before establishing himself as a full-time professional fighter, he worked making piñatas.

In 2016, Moreno joined The Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions as a member of Team Benavidez. He lost to Alexandre Pantoja by rear-naked choke in the opening round of the tournament.

Moreno made his UFC debut while the season was still airing, submitting Louis Smolka by guillotine choke at UFC Fight Night on October 1, 2016. The victory earned him a Performance of the Night bonus. He followed it with wins over Ryan Benoit and Dustin Ortiz before losing decisions to Sergio Pettis and Alexandre Pantoja.

After leaving the UFC in late 2018, Moreno rebuilt his career in the LFA. His successful return to the UFC began with a draw against Askar Askarov in 2019, followed by victories over Kai Kara-France, Jussier Formiga and Brandon Royval.

Moreno's title rivalry with Deiveson Figueiredo began at UFC 256 in December 2020, where their five-round contest ended in a majority draw. In their rematch at UFC 263, Moreno submitted Figueiredo with a rear-naked choke in the third round and became the first Mexican UFC champion.

Figueiredo regained the title by unanimous decision at UFC 270 in January 2022. Moreno then defeated Kai Kara-France by third-round stoppage at UFC 277 to win the interim UFC Flyweight Championship.

At UFC 283 in January 2023, Moreno and Figueiredo met for a fourth time, the first four-fight pairing in UFC history. Moreno won by doctor stoppage and unified the flyweight championship. He lost the title to Alexandre Pantoja by split decision at UFC 290 later that year.

After losing the championship, Moreno was defeated by Brandon Royval by split decision in February 2024. He returned to winning form with unanimous-decision victories over Amir Albazi in November 2024 and Steve Erceg in March 2025.

Moreno was stopped by Tatsuro Taira at UFC 323 in December 2025, marking the first stoppage loss of his professional career. He then lost a unanimous decision to Lone'er Kavanagh at UFC Fight Night in February 2026. His UFC profile lists a scheduled bout with Joseph Morales for September 12, 2026.

Moreno has won the UFC Flyweight Championship twice and the interim UFC Flyweight Championship once. He has also received multiple Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night bonuses, including recognition for fights with Figueiredo, Kara-France and Pantoja.

UFC statistics credit him with 11 submission victories, five knockout victories and eight first-round finishes. He is listed among the division's leaders in wins, significant strikes landed, total fight time and bouts.
