Kathryn Plummer

Plummer grew up in Aliso Viejo, California, where her parents Kevin and Michelle Plummer raised her. Athletic talent runs in the family. Her older brother Kristian played collegiate volleyball at Concordia University Irvine and won an NAIA national championship.

She married Michael Boden in 2024 shortly after returning from the Paris Olympic Games. Boden played baseball during his college years at Stanford, where Plummer completed her undergraduate degree in human biology.

College programs noticed Plummer early. She received her first scholarship offer in the seventh grade before eventually choosing Stanford. She attended Aliso Niguel High School, graduating in 2016.

Plummer led the Cardinal to NCAA Division I national championships in 2016, 2018, and 2019. Individual honors followed. She earned AVCA National Freshman of the Year in 2016, followed by back-to-back AVCA National Player of the Year awards in 2017 and 2018. She was named NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player in both 2018 and 2019.

In 2019, she won the Honda Sports Award for volleyball and the James E. Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in the United States.

Plummer turned professional in December 2019, signing with Italian side Saugella Team Monza. She made her Serie A debut in January 2020 and helped Monza reach the Coppa Italia final four. Later that year, she moved to Japan to compete for Denso Airybees during the 2020-2021 season.

In June 2021, Plummer joined Italian club Imoco Volley Conegliano. She won three consecutive Italian League titles, three Coppa Italia trophies, and three Italian Supercups between 2021 and 2024. The club also claimed the 2022 FIVB Club World Championship and won the 2023-24 CEV Champions League.

Plummer signed with Turkish club Eczacıbaşı Dynavit in May 2024. She agreed to terms to return stateside with LOVB Los Angeles beginning in 2027.

Plummer represented the United States across several youth levels before entering senior international competition. She claimed a gold medal at the 2014 FIVB U17 Beach World Championship with Morgan Martin and added bronze medals at the U19 and U21 beach world championships alongside Milica Mirkovic. She captained the U.S. Girls' Youth National Team to silver at the 2015 FIVB U18 World Championships.

She debuted for the senior national team at the 2019 Pan-American Cup, taking home gold. After serving as an alternate for the Tokyo Olympics, she earned a roster spot for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

In the 2024 Olympic semifinals against Brazil, Plummer scored 26 points, including 23 kills, and delivered the match-winning attack. The victory advanced the United States to the final, where Plummer and her teammates secured the Olympic silver medal.
